The hd spun up and my PC recognised it and I was able get at the data on the hd. This little baby did the trick. I am a 30 year veteran of the IT industry. No fussing around. I plugged a 5 year old raw IDE drive into it and, it into a USB connection on my PC. I think every one should keep one of these around, just in case. Well worth the money.Tom SUniversal HDD Adapter USB To 2.5IN & 3.5IN Sata & Pata Hdd
I recently purchased a 500GB 2.5in SATA drive from Amazon. After the cloning was finished and I swapped out the drives, my laptop booted to the desktop without any errors. After a lot of research, I decided to go with the DriveWire.
My only problem was that I didn't want to spend the time installing the O/S and other applications. It took approx 1 hour for the EZ GIG II software to clone the 80GB drive. The 80GB hard drive in my laptop was almost full from music and photos.
It's the best $34 you can spend. Plus my laptop is a Dell and the existing drive is partitioned into 4 different drives with some being hidden. I just wanted the drive structure and files cloned to the new drive.
All partitions including Dell's MediaDirect were cloned. It's really the best way to go when it comes to upgrading your hard drive.
I am please with results I finally achieved with DriveWire universal hard drive adapter, but would suggest that Apricorn, the manufacturer, do some additional work on their support website and online documentation. Overall it's a good product.
One reviewer stated he had no luck cloning his IDE drives. I used the Universal HDD adapter to clone two IDE drives, one 2.5" laptop, one 3.5" desktop. Installed the new cloned drives in both computers and they fired right up. I had no problems at all. This tool was a big time saver.
- Amazing quality product.- Good product design for plugging AC power adapter (I saw some reviews that tells how it burnt their precious laptop disk drive). AC power adpater fits in one way only.- BTW. AC power adapter is MUST even to run 2.5" SATA DriveI just recovered my Hard Disk and could get back all my daughter's Photos and Videos.
